It’s been a weird old summer for Arsenal in the transfer market, but they recently signed Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid, and the midfielder could represent an important piece of their team for the coming season.
That’s according to the Totally Football Show’s Spanish expert Alvaro Romeo, who suspects that Ceballos could have already flourished in Madrid, under different circumstances.
“Zinedine Zidane likes Dani Ceballos, but he doesn’t consider him a pivotal player yet,” said Alvaro. “He’s a good playmaker, he got a lot of endurance, the ability to take on players and score from set pieces.
“His problem has been Real Madrid’s irregularity and inconsistency – he’s had three coaches in two years at a crucial stage in his development, from when he’s been 20-23.
“He has a great opportunity: Arsenal lack a bit of finesse in their midfield, and Dani Ceballos is going to make a good contribution. Unai Emery really likes the player, and while Zidane didn’t always trust him, Luis Enrique the national coach loves him, despite him not playing much for Real, he kept giving him caps.”
We must apologise in advance Arsenal fans: you are the last people whose hopes we want to get up needlessly, given the series of honking disappointments you’ve suffered recently. So if Ceballos turns out to be a deluxe version of Denis Suarez, we really are sorry.
